Troubleshooting
The failures that come up most often.
Metro cannot resolve a module
Usually a stale cache. Clear it and restart:
npx expo start --clearFonts do not load
The app must not render before `useFonts` resolves. Returning `null` until `loaded` is true is what prevents a flash of the system font, and omitting that check is the usual cause.
iOS build fails after adding a library
A library with native code cannot run in Expo Go. Create a development build with `npx eas build --profile development`.
Android emulator cannot reach the dev server
Use a tunnel when the emulator's network is isolated:
npx expo start --tunnelType errors after upgrading the SDK
Align every Expo-managed dependency with the SDK, then typecheck again:
npx expo install --fix
npx tsc --noEmit
